Biometric access control — fingerprint scanners, facial recognition, iris readers — has moved well beyond government facilities and is increasingly the go-to solution for corporate campuses, healthcare facilities, schools, and mid-sized offices. In this post, I make the case for why the appeal is clear: unlike keycards or PIN codes, biometrics authenticate a person rather than an object or a piece of knowledge, eliminating the risk of lost badges or shared credentials. The global market reflects this shift, valued at $11.1 billion in 2025 and projected to reach $15.2 billion by 2029.
